As for paying attention, I SURE would!!!! (And I wouldn't be sleeping either!) Just probably not to what SHE wanted me to pay attention to. I would CERTAINLY turn off my cell phone, because most of my daytime calls are from my girlfriend, and I'm not sure I'd want to betray what I was thinking in THIS lady's class...
(An observation by a real-life teacher! A little unusually, I don't take attendance or grade on participation. I find that those things take care of themselves: those who attend and participate do well; those who don't, don't. I do forbid cellphone use, because it invades other people's space; but otherwise I don't require attention. I remember all too well my own student days, when I had WAY more trouble than most people staying awake. And the great majority of my "notes" were cartoon faces. Who knows how I managed to learn the stuff...)
And yes I'm trying to turn that into a double-D's joke. Big boobies FTW.
