Pax Americana by rrward Pax Americana by rrward
Inspired in part by Captain America, the comic book "Give Me Liberty" and the book "Starship Troopers", it's time for my annual 4th of July picture. Enjoy!

PS: No political message is meant by this image. If I had meant to comment on American Imperialism, I'd have done this one during the previous administration.

Lots of OMG factors coming in to play on this one:

(1) 1940-ish vibrant comic-book style coloring

(2) patriotic troops (with the added futuristic bonus of a Star Wars Imperial StormTrooper vibe) under the leadership of a no-nonsense female superior (and I do mean SUPERIOR ;)) officer

(3) the guaranteed crowd-pleaser money-shot: an impressive fly-by of the latest military hardware in the upper background.

Rrward, you should put your considerable creative talents to use as a producer for the USAF summer air shows!

I'm a big fan of both Martha Washington and Johnnie Rico, having read both works many times.

Boy are those colors saturated, almost to intense to look at. But that's comics for you. In the early days, between the printing and the paper the colors tended to get washed out. I'm a lot happier with today's technology and over all the colors a gotten a bit more muted.

The bright colors are kind of the point. They say "We can kick your ass so bad we don't need camouflage!"
